19 Best Connecticut Waterfalls To Photograph

Connecticut waterfalls are not always talked about much, but there are some beautiful ones well worth visiting! Here are some of my favorite waterfalls to photograph and visit in the Nutmeg State.
Aspetuck Falls (Washington)

Aspetuck Falls is a beautiful waterfall in Washington, Connecticut. The waterfall features a single plunge and is about 20 feet tall. The waterfall can be easily located off the road. More information about the waterfall can be found here.
Bailey’s Ravine (Franklin)

- Height: Tallest plunge is 10 feet

Bailey’s Ravine is a stunning waterfall in Franklin, CT. Bailey’s Ravine is one of the thinnest and most majestic waterfalls in New London county. The waterfall consists of plunges, slides, and cascades with the tallest plunge being about 10 feet tall.
Blackledge Falls (Glastonbury)

- Height: Each plunge is 22 feet to 25 feet tall

Blackledge Falls is a lovely waterfall located in Glastonbury, Connecticut. The waterfall consists of two plunges both about 25 feet tall. The falls can be found within a reservation owned by the town of Glastonbury.
Burlington Falls (Burlington)

Burlington Falls is a small but charming waterfall located in Burlington, Connecticut. The waterfall may be small as it stands about 15 feet tall, but it is a beautiful horsetail. The waterfall sits on New Britain Water Department Conservation Commission land.
Chapman Falls (East Haddam)

- County: Middlesex
- Height: 60-foot total drop

- Park: Devil’s Hopyard State Park

Chapman Falls is a great waterfall located in East Haddam, Connecticut. The waterfall stands at a great height of about 60 feet. The waterfall features primarily blocks and can be accessed by visiting Devil’s Hopyard State Park.
Day Pond Brook Falls (Colchester)

When traveling in New London County (Connecticut), you do not want to miss Day Pond Brook Falls. The falls drops about 40 feet and it features plunges, cascades, and horsetails. The waterfall is located in Colchester and can be accessed within Day Pond State Park.
Enders Falls (Granby)

Great Falls (Canaan & Salisbury)

Litchfield is home to some of Connecticut’s best waterfalls and Great Falls is one of the finest. Great Falls is located in Canaan, CT & Salisbury, CT and it stands 50 feet tall. The waterfall features beautiful blocks and cascades. The waterfall can be found within Upper Falls Village Recreation Area.
Hatch Brook Falls (Sharon)

- County: Litchfield
- Height: 25 feet
- Type: Horsetail
- Park: Housatonic Meadows State Park

Hatch Brook Falls is a beautiful waterfall in Sharon, Connecticut. The waterfall features a horsetail and is about 25 feet tall. The waterfall can be found within the Housatonic Meadows State Park park and accessed via a 0.2-mile walk/hike.
Indian Well Falls (Shelton)

Kent Falls is a stunning cascade in Kent, Connecticut. Kent Falls is one of the greatest waterfalls in Connecticut as it falls a whopping 250 feet. The falls consists of plunges, horsetails, and cascades. Considering the falls are such a popular attraction, it is best to visit the falls early in the day. The falls can be found at the Kent Falls State Park and can be accessed via an easy trail.
Knife Shop Falls (Litchfield)

- Height: Upper falls are 12 feet; middle falls are 15 feet; lower falls are 10 feet

Knife Shop Falls is a charming waterfall located in Litchfield, Connecticut. The waterfall features three sections which vary in height. The upper falls are 12 feet, the middle falls are 15 feet, and the lower falls are 10 feet. The waterfall consists of plunges, horsetails, and cascades. Knife Shop Falls can be found within the Humaston Brook State Park.
Mill Pond Falls (Newington)

Mill Pond Falls is a small but charming waterfall located in Newington, Connecticut. The waterfall may be small (as it stands about 12 feet tall) but it is very beautiful. The waterfall consists of a fan shape and can be found within Mill Pond Park.
Nonnewaug Falls (Woodbury)

Nonnewaug Falls is a great waterfall located in Woodbury, Connecticut. The waterfall stands about 18 feet tall and features primarily horsetails and a plunge. Nonnewaug Falls is named after one of the last chiefs of the Nonnewaug tribe who was buried nearby.
Northgate Falls (Simsbury)

Hartford County is home to many great waterfalls and Northgate Falls is one of the finest. Northgate Falls is located in Simsbury, Connecticut and it drops a total of 30 feet. The waterfall features primarily horsetails and it can be found within the McLean Game Refuge.
Spruce Brook Falls (Beacon Falls)

- Height: Largest plunge on Spruce Brook is 15 feet; upper falls on tributary is 40 feet

When traveling in New Haven County Connecticut, you do not want to miss Spruce Brook Falls. The falls feature two sections with the lower falls dropping about 15 feet tall and the upper falls dropping about 40 feet tall. The waterfall is located in Naugatuck State Forest and can be accessed via the Spruce Brook Loop Trail.
Wadsworth Big Falls (Middlefield)

- County: Middlesex

Wadsworth Big Falls is a lovely waterfall located in Middlefield, Connecticut. The waterfall stands about 25 feet high and flows in a block formation. The falls can be found within Wadsworth Falls State Park and can be accessed via the Wadsworth Falls Trail.
Wyllys Falls (Manchester)

Wyllys Falls is a stunning cascade in Manchester, Connecticut. Wyllys Falls is one of the greatest waterfalls in Hartford County as it stands 40 feet tall. The waterfall falls in a fan formation and can be accessed via a short hike.
Yantic Falls (Norwich)

Yantic Falls is a beautiful waterfall in Norwich, Connecticut. The waterfall drops about 40 feet in total and features a plunge and cascade. The waterfall was formed from a dam and Yantic Falls can be found within Yantic Falls Park.
