New Hampshire Waterfalls

New Hampshire waterfalls are truly spectacular. New Hampshire is known for its beautiful wilderness and nothing quite beats a waterfall on a cool fall day. There are big waterfalls and small waterfalls, waterfalls that take hours to hike to and others that take just minutes, there are plunges and there are cascades.

With so many options, it’s not easy for me to choose the “best” waterfalls. But, here are some of my personal favorites which look spectacular accompanied by fall foliage:

#1 – Silver Cascade (Harts Location, NH)

Location: Harts Location, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: Approximately 250 feet of vertical drop is visible from the road

Type: Plunges and cascades

#2 – Sabbaday Falls (Waterville Valley, NH)

Location: Waterville Valley, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 35-foot total drop

Type: Punchbowl and plunges

#3 – Ripley Falls (Harts Location, NH)

Location: Harts Location, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 100-foot total drop

Type: Horsetail and slides

#4 – The Flume (Lincoln, NH)

Location: Lincoln, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: N/A

Type: Punchbowls and plunges

#5 – Cloudland Falls (Lincoln, NH)

Location: Lincoln, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 80-foot

Type: Horsetail and slides

#6 – Glen Ellis Falls (Jackson, NH)

Location: Jackson, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 64 feet

Type: Plunge

#7 -Arethusa Falls (Hart’s Location, NH)

Location: Harts Location, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: Arethusa Falls is 160 feet; Coliseum Falls is a 20-foot total drop; Bemis Brook Falls is 8 feet

Type: Horsetail

#8 – Kinsman Falls (Franconia, NH)

Location: Franconia, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 15-foot

Type: Plunge

#9 – Diana’s Baths (Bartlett, NH)

Location: Bartlett, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: Tallest plunge is 12 feet; total drop is 80 feet

Type: Plunges, cascades, and slides

#10 – Jackson Falls (Jackson, NH)

Location: Jackson, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: Approximately 100-foot total drop

Type: Cascades and small plunges

#11 – Avalanche Falls (Lincoln, NH)

Location: Lincoln, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 45 feet

Type: Plunges, horsetails, and cascades

#12 – Georgiana Falls (Lincoln, NH)

Location: Lincoln, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 30 feet

Type: Plunges, cascades, and a fan

#13 – Profile Falls (Bristol, NH)

Location: Bristol, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 30 feet

Type: Fan

#14 – Beede Falls (Sandwich, NH)

Location: Sandwich, New Hampshire (Directions)

Height: 35 feet

Type: Main falls are a horsetail and small plunge; the lower falls are a mix of horsetails and slides
