Description
40 Steps Beach is a beautiful hidden gem in Nahant, Massachusetts. The beach is located in a small cove just off Nahant Road. It stretches for about 100 yards and the beach area is full of stones, rocks, and pebbles. The cove where the beach sits has rocky cliffs on either side. These cliffs are often climbed upon by children in the summer and some even jump into the water from them. The beach gets its name from the original stairway that led down to the beach – it contained 40 steps. Due to erosion over the years, more steps were added to access the beach, but the name Forty Steps Beach remains.
The beach is relatively lowkey due to its rockiness, zero amenities, small size, and lack of parking. If you are looking to visit Forty Steps Beach, you will need to know where to park. The beach is located essentially in a private neighborhood and there is no dedicated parking lot. Visitorsâ best bet is to park at the nearby Nahant Town Hall or along the street near the Nahant Public Library.
