Description
Bear Rock Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Mount Washington, Massachusetts. The waterfall has a total height of over 300 feet, but only about 40 feet are visible. The falls are very remote and undeveloped, so this is why not much of the falls can be seen. It would take a lot of bushwhacking to see all the drops. Â
The waterfall drops along Bear Rock Stream, hence its name. Bear Rock Stream flows strongest flows strongest during the springtime when the snow melts and after heavy rainstorms. Although it is usually best to visit in the spring, Bear Rock Falls is a great spot to visit year-round. The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of mainly horsetails.Â
Accessing the waterfall is relatively tough. The waterfall is located in the Mount Everett State Reservation which features many miles of well-marked trails. Visitors can park in the small parking areas along Mount Washington Road and then hike 3 miles one-way to the falls. The waterfall trail is well-marked and is a great way to get some hiking in. Dogs are also allowed on the trail and through the entirety of Mount Everett State Reservation.Â
