Description
Briggs Brook Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Erving, Massachusetts. The waterfall has a total height of 60 feet and it can be found along Briggs Brook. Briggs Brook flows strongest during the springtime when the snow melts and after heavy rainstorms. Although it is best to explore the waterfall in the spring, Briggs Brook Falls is a great spot to visit year-round.Â
The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of a series of cascades. Photographers often enjoy taking long-exposure photos of the waterfall, so tripods are recommended for those who have them. It is also a very photogenic waterfall considering visitors can walk all around the falls to capture different angles and drops.
Accessing the waterfall is relatively easy. The waterfall is located on private property, but it is completely public and features a well-marked trail system. Visitors can park in a small area on Wells Street and then hike along the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail to the falls. The total hike is just 0.3 miles one-way which makes this waterfall a great family-friendly adventure. Dogs are also allowed on the trail and through the entirety of property.
The waterfall is usually lowkey considering it is a bit of a hidden gem. You will likely not find too many people exploring the waterfall, so it is a great place to visit on weekends and weekdays.
