About This Location

Browns River Falls is a beautiful series of waterfalls located in Jericho, Vermont. In total, the waterfall drops about 25 feet and can be found along the Browns River. This river features a good amount of water flow year-round. That said, it flows strongest during the spring when the snow thaw occurs. For this reason, it is best to visit during the months of April, May, and June to see the waterfall at peak flow.

The waterfall itself is made up of three distinct sections. There are lower, middle, and upper falls. The lower falls can be seen right off the VT-15 highway and feature the tallest drop. The middle falls and upper falls both require a short hike to access. All the waterfalls are cascades.

Accessing the waterfall is super quick and easy. The waterfall is located in Old Mill Park which features a short and well-marked trail system. Visitors can park at the Old Red Mill right off VT-15 and then hike to the falls. The lower falls are located at the trailhead, the middle falls are 0.1 miles away, and the upper falls are 0.3 miles away. Ultimately, the hike to see all three waterfalls is 0.6 miles out and back and it takes only 20 minutes to visit them all.

Although Browns River Falls are not the prettiest or tallest in Vermont, they are well worth visiting if you’re in the area. Exploring the falls is a wonderful family-friendly and dog-friendly adventure!
