About This Location
The Cascades On The Buck River is a small waterfall located in Sandisfield, Massachusetts. The waterfall features two 5-foot cascades and it can be found along Buck River. Buck River flows strongest during the springtime when the snow melts and after heavy rainstorms. Although it is best to explore the waterfall in the spring, the Cascades On The Buck River is a great spot to visit year-round.
The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of two separate cascades. The lower cascade is just a few feet from the upper falls. The lower cascade also has a deep pool at its base which can be a good pool to swim in during hot summer days. Be careful when attempting to go to the base of the falls considering the land is steep and the rocks are slippery.
Accessing the waterfall is relatively quick and easy. The waterfall is located in the Clam River Reserve and right off Sandisfield Road. Visitors can park right along the road in a small pullover spot. After parking, the walk to the falls is just about 100 feet upstream. Visitors do have to cross the highway and jump over the guardrail to get a good view of the falls. This is not a great waterfall to bring small children and/or dogs too due to the lack of a trail, dangerous terrain, and the busy highway.
