Description
Castle Rock Park is a beautiful 1.20-acre park located off Ocean Avenue on Marblehead Neck in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The name of the park comes from the castle-like private mansion that sits adjacent to it. The Carcassonne mansion is the official name of the residence.
Castle Rock, once known as “Great Head,” served as a lookout point for arriving and departing fishing fleets, as well as pirate and enemy ships, both British and French. From Ocean Avenue, a short path leads to the park. It has benches, fishing, and off-shore sailing as well as excellent views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors are invited to carefully explore the cliffs, rock terraces, and tide pools at Castle Rock Park. On-street parking is available nearby for free but is limited to two hours. The park is open from sunrise to sunset throughout the year.
Be sure to also visit Marblehead Light which is very close to the park.
