Description
Dummerston Falls is a beautiful roadside waterfall located in Dummerston, Vermont. The waterfall has a total height of 25 feet and it can be found along an unnamed stream that flows into the West River. This unnamed stream is very seasonal and sadly only flows strongly for a few days each year. It typically can be seen at peak flow during the spring when the snow is thawing and running into the stream. For this reason, it is recommended that visitors check out the falls during the months of April, May, and June for the best chance of seeing some good flow. Outside of the springtime, Dummerston Falls typically just features a small trickle of water flowing over the steep rock face.
The waterfall itself drops in a stunning horsetail formation. It is located on public property owned by the town and it can be found right off West River Road, which is also known as VT-30. The falls can be seen from the road, but for visitors hoping to get a closer look, there is a small dirt pullover area just a few feet north of the falls. Ultimately, this convenient location makes the waterfall a fun site to admire for people of all ages and abilities.
Be sure to also check out Old Jelly Mill Falls which is located just a minute’s drive away!
