About This Location

East Putney Falls is a spectacular waterfall located in Putney, Vermont. The waterfall drops 40 feet in total and features two beautiful 20-foot drops. The falls drop in unique horsetail formations and both have wonderful pools at their bases. Although the falls are located on private property, the owner has long allowed respectful visitors to check out the waterfalls and swim at the lower falls. Putney locals love cooling down on hot summer days at the lower falls swimming hole.

The waterfall itself can be found along East Putney Brook. This brook features a pretty great watershed year-round. That said, the brook flows strongest during the springtime when the snow is melting. For this reason, the falls can often be found truly roaring during the months of April, May, and June. Ultimately though, any day is a great day to visit the falls!

As mentioned before, the falls do lie on private property. That said, the owner has allowed respectful visitors to enjoy the waterfalls and the lower falls swimming hole for many years. Visitors can park at Gasset Road and then walk a few feet down to the lower falls. Due to the falls being conveniently located just a few steps from the road, this a wonderful family-friendly place to explore and enjoy!

It should be noted that dogs are not allowed at the falls. Please be extremely respectful of the owner’s land.
