Description
Emerson Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. The waterfall has a total height of 25 feet and it can be found along Sleepers River. Sleepers River features pretty good water flow on most days, but it is controlled by a dam upstream. For this reason, the waterfall flow can be excellent or terrible at a moment’s notice.
The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of cascades. Above the cascades is a wonderful emerald-green pool. The pool is a popular swimming hole during the summer among locals. That said, it is unclear whether swimming is actually allowed here. Swimming probably is not allowed due to the fact that the currents can be severe at times.
Accessing the waterfall is quick and easy. Visitors can park at the end of Emerson Falls Road within the business center. After parking, the falls can be found about a tenth of a mile upstream. There are some small trails that allow explorers to get a better view of the falls. The land in which the waterfall drop is located is public and owned by the town of St. Johnsbury.
