Description
The Ethan Allen Tower is a legendary structure in Burlington. It is named after a well-known Revolutionary War soldier from Vermont. The tower is located on Allen’s farm, which is now a public park in Burlington, Vermont. Ethan Allen Park’s cliffs rise above Burlington as a 60-acre wildness with some of the city’s best panoramas and great natural and cultural history.
The Ethan Allen Tower, which stands 40 feet tall, is made of stone quarried locally. On Memorial Day in 1905, it was initially opened to the public. This tower stands on the highest point in the park. This peak previously served as a lookout for Indians and Caucasian settlers looking for enemies using Lake Champlain and the Winooski River as water routes traveling north, south, and east for over two centuries.
