About This Location

Falls Brook Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Connecticut. It is a bit of a hidden gem and it is located in the Tunxis State Forest in West Hartland, Connecticut. The waterfall is not extremely well-known due to the lowkey parking area and short trail system. That said, the waterfall is a must-see for any waterfall lover considering its size, power, and accessibility. The main waterfall drops about 25 feet in a cascade formation. It is fueled by Falls Brook (hence its name) which flows hardest after heavy rainfall and during the spring when the snow melts. That said, the waterfall is wonderful to visit all year round.

Accessing Falls Brook Falls is relatively straightforward. Visitors can park along CT-20 at the trailhead and start the trek from there. The trail is about 1.1 miles out-and-back and it features about 295 feet of elevation gain. The majority of the hike to the waterfall is downhill. Be careful if you want to go down to the base of the waterfall. There are large rocks surrounding the waterfall pool and these rocks are often slippery. Be careful and enjoy this stunning Connecticut waterfall!

It should be noted that Lower Falls Brook Falls also exists. When we visited in 2022, there was a sign saying no access was allowed for the lower waterfall. If this has changed or if you know any more information, please contact us. Thank you!
