About This Location

Felchville Falls is a hidden roadside waterfall located in Reading, Vermont. The waterfall has a total height of about 15 feet and it can be found along the North Branch of the Black River. This stream flows pretty well year-round, but it typically flows greatest during the spring when the winter thaw is occurring. For this reason, it is recommended to visit the falls during the months of April, May, and June to see them in peak condition.

The waterfall itself drops in a lovely horsetail formation. For better or worse, the waterfall is not very well-known. This means that not much has been built up to highlight the falls. There is no information kiosk, no trail map, and no rest area. Looking at the Vermont property map, it is clear that the falls themselves drop on property owned by the Hall Art Foundation. That said, there is a strip of public land along the northern side of the stream which would allow visitors to get a pretty good view of the falls. Many people seeking out the falls just enjoy them from the parking area tho. You are going to want to bring a camera with a zoom lens considering the falls are about 400 feet from Main Street.

Hopefully, in the coming years, the town of Reading will realize how wonderful Felchville Falls is and that it should become a more established attraction.
