About This Location

Giant Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Shelburne, New Hampshire. The main waterfall has a total height of over 80 feet and can be found along Peabody Brook. Peabody Brook is very seasonal and it typically only flows strongly during the spring when the snow is melting. For this reason, it is best to visit during the months of March, April, and May. Visiting in the summer oftentimes leaves a little to be desired considering not much water can be seen dropping down the steep rockface. That said, the waterfall is still nearly 100 feet tall, so it is pretty impressive year-round.

Accessing the waterfall is relatively easy. The waterfall is located in the Peabody Forest conservation land which features a nice trail system. Visitors of the falls can park at the trailhead along North Road and then hike 1.40 miles via the Peabody Brook Trail to the falls. Ultimately, the trail out-and-back is 2.8 miles and features an elevation gain of 692 feet.

The waterfall trail is rated as moderate. Dogs are allowed on the trail and at the waterfall. Be careful when visiting the waterfall because the terrain gets very steep and slippery too.

Dyad Falls is another great waterfall in Shelburne, New Hampshire located just a few miles to the east.
