Description
There are many amazing viewpoints in Maine, but at the very top of this list is Height of Land in Roxbury, Maine.
The Height of Land, located alongside Route 17 in western Maine, provides visitors with a panoramic view of the sprawling Rangeley Lakes region and the mountains beyond. Mooselookmeguntic and Richardson Lakes, as well as the White Mountains, can be seen among the thousands of acres of conservation land. The Height of Land, along the Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway, has been named one of the best viewpoints in the state, if not New England.
In 2008, the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust purchased the Height of Land overlook as well as an additional 512 acres of land. Since then, the trust has worked to keep the area looking beautiful and accessible. The organization recently expanded the parking and viewing areas to make visiting and enjoying the views easier and more enjoyable.
The beautiful Angel Falls waterfall is located less than 4 miles away from the Height of Land overlook. Additionally, if you’re looking for other amazing spots to explore in Maine, be sure to check out the GoXplr Maine Map at goxplr.com/map/maine!
