Little Falls

Description

Little Falls is a beautiful and powerful waterfall located in Milton, Vermont. The waterfall has a total height of about 100 feet, but only about 20 feet can be seen from the trail. It can be found along the Lamoille River which features a large watershed. For this reason, the waterfall can often be seen roaring year-round.

The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of cascades under a manmade dam. This dam was constructed by the Green Mountain Power Corp and it is used as a hydro station. The dam and surrounding property are privately owned by the power company, but respectful visitors are allowed. In fact, the power company has built out some trails and also a nice observation area to view the falls. Visitors can park along Ritchie Avenue and then walk down a set of stairs to see the falls. As mentioned before, about 20 feet of the 100-foot waterfall can be viewed from the trail.

Ultimately, this is a very easy waterfall to visit and it’s a great kid-friendly and dog-friendly place to explore.
