Description
Long Pond in Mount Vernon and Belgrade, Maine, is a lovely pond that spans 504 acres. It has a maximum depth of 16 feet and a mean depth of 11 feet. It has a 7.4-mile perimeter – making it a large, shallow pond. The water quality testing results show that it is slightly below average. On the eastern side, there is a state-owned boat ramp. The fishing is excellent here, with the main species being smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white perch, and chain pickerel.
Long Pond is very remote and it has spectacular views. Visitors also have plenty of opportunities to gaze at the stars and listen to the loons’ and coyotes’ songs.
