Description
Mad River Cascades is a delightful little waterfall located in Wolcott, Connecticut. The waterfall has a total height of about 8 feet and it can be found along the Mad River. The river flows strongest during spring when the snow melts and after heavy rainstorms. Although the waterfall is fullest in the spring, the Mad River Cascades are great to visit year-round. The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of several small cascades.
Getting to the waterfall is pretty easy. The waterfall is located in the Peterson Memorial Park which features a well-marked trail system. Visitors can park in the large paved Peterson Memorial lot located along Mad River Road. The trailhead to the waterfall can be found at the northern end of the parking area. From the trailhead, the waterfall is 1/3 of a mile away. The 0.33-mile one-way hike is family-friendly and dogs are welcome on the trail to.
