Overlooking Crawford Notch, this mountain boasts an elevation of 3,119 feet and a clear prominence of 239 feet, making it a notable peak in the region.

Situated within the Presidential Range–Dry River Wilderness, Mount Crawford is an integral part of the Saco River watershed. Its northern slopes drain into Sleeper Brook, the southern slopes into Raxor Brook, and the western slopes directly into the Saco River. To the east, it connects to Mount Resolution along the crest of Montalban Ridge.

Accessing Mount Crawford can be achieved via the Davis Path, a popular hiking trail that starts from Crawford Notch near the Notchland Inn. There is a dedicated parking lot at the Davis Path Trailhead, conveniently located just off Route 302. This paved parking lot can accommodate several dozen cars, and there is no fee for parking.

The hike to Mount Crawford via the Davis Path Trail is a 4.3-mile out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 2,106 feet. It is considered a difficult trail and typically takes about three and a half hours to complete. Given its popularity for hiking and snowshoeing, expect to encounter other outdoor enthusiasts while exploring this area. The best times to visit are from April through October, allowing you to enjoy the changing seasons and beautiful landscapes. Dogs are welcome on this trail but must be kept on a leash. The Davis Path continues northward along Montalban Ridge, eventually leading to Mount Washington.

The Davis Path trail derives its name from its creator, Nathaniel T. P. Davis, who was married to Hannah Crawford. Hannah's father, Abel Crawford, owned the Crawford House Inn in Hart's Location, and Nathaniel managed the inn for a period.

Reaching the summit of Mount Crawford rewards hikers with stunning views in all directions. To the east, nearby peaks such as Mount Resolution and Stairs Mountain are visible. Further to the north and east, the southern Presidential Range unfolds, culminating in the towering presence of Mount Washington. On the western side, across Crawford Notch, you'll spot Mount Bemis and Mount Nancy, with Mount Carrigain in the background. Gazing through the notch to the south reveals Mount Tremont, accompanied by the distant Sandwich Range. The Moat Range continues further to the southeast, completing the breathtaking panorama from Mount Crawford.
