About This Location

Nestled within the embrace of the Green Mountains in Dover, Vermont, Mount Snow, formerly known as Mount Pisgah, stands as a majestic peak with a celebrated ski resort. With an elevation soaring to 3,586 feet, it proudly claims its place as part of the Southern Green Mountains Range, revealing a clean prominence that commands attention at a staggering 1,309 feet. These impressive statistics secure Mount Snow's position on Vermont's esteemed lists—the Vermont 3500-foot Peaks at rank #25 and the Vermont Peaks with 1000 feet of Prominence at rank #39.

Mount Snow is a winter wonderland, renowned for its exceptional skiing experiences. Situated just 2.5 hours from Boston and 4 hours from New York City, it emerges as Vermont's closest big mountain to many metropolitan centers in the Northeast. In September 2019, Mount Snow joined the prestigious portfolio of Vail Resorts and the Epic Pass program, ushering in a new era for this iconic destination.

The mountain's storied history, dating back to its inaugural season in 1954, is adorned with countless tales of innovation, bizarre events, and visionary leadership. Walt Schoenknecht, the pioneering force behind Mount Snow, shaped it into one of the country's largest ski resorts during his tenure.

In 1992, Mount Snow carved its place in history by unveiling Un Blanco Gulch, the first snowboard park in the East. This revolutionary addition featured jumps, a half-pipe, quarter hits, spines, wedges, banked turns, and even a buried van. Hosting the first Extreme Games in 1995 and subsequently the X Games in 2000 and 2001, Mount Snow became synonymous with pushing the boundaries of winter sports.

The Carinthia Parks, a testament to Mount Snow's commitment to innovation, opened in 2008–2009, boasting both natural and man-made attractions, including a superpipe. Carinthia played host to various events such as the Winter Dew Tour and the Carinthia Classic, ensuring Mount Snow's enduring influence on the ski industry.

While Mount Snow is a haven for winter enthusiasts, its allure extends beyond the snowy season. In the summer and fall, the Bluebird Express chairlift offers a scenic adventure, treating visitors to breathtaking views of Somerset Reservoir, Mount Monadnock, and, on clear days, even Mount Washington. Hiking enthusiasts can explore miles of trails catering to all skill levels, with the access road serving as a popular route. For furry companions, dogs are welcome but must be leashed and under control at all times. Also, mountain biking is very popular too!

Ample parking, a testament to Mount Snow's popularity, awaits at the base of the mountain off Mount Snow Road. Free year-round parking makes it accessible for all, ensuring that the charm of Mount Snow beckons visitors throughout the seasons.
