Prydden Brook Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Newtown, Connecticut. The waterfall has a total height of 65 feet and it can be found along Prydden Brook. The brook is relatively seasonal as it flows strongest during spring when the snow melts and also after heavy rainstorms. Although it is best to explore the waterfall in the spring, it can be a fun location to visit any season. If you hike to the waterfall during the fall, be sure to wear bright clothing considering hunting is permitted in the forrest.

The water itself drops in a unique formation consisting of plunges and cascades. The main attraction of the falls is the 25 foot multi-tiered plunges. Following the plunges are about 40 feet of cascades. Ultimately, the waterfall is truly a stunning sight to see and it has become extremely popular among photographers considering how many great compositions are to be had.

Accessing the waterfall does take a little effort, but it is well worth it. The waterfall is located in the Paugussett State Forest which features a well-marked trail system. There are several trails which lead to the falls and many different parking options. The shortest route to the falls is from the trailhead located on Russett Road in the Sandy Hook Village of Newtown. From this starting point, the waterfall is just a 1.10 mile one-way hike. Dogs are welcome on the trail and through the entirety of the Paugussett State Forest.

There are many different trails which lead to the waterfall and several different parking areas available. If you are looking for the quickest hike to the falls, it is best to park along Russett Road. From the trailhead on Russett Road, the waterfall is a 1.10 mile one-way hike.
