Ragged Mountain Cascade

Description

Ragged Mountain Cascade is a very seasonal waterfall located in Berlin, Connecticut. The waterfall has a total height of 40 feet and it drops in a series of plunges which fall over basalt ledges. The Ragged Mount Cascade can be found along an unnamed stream, which is sadly very seasonal. There is often not much water flowing down the stream, which makes the waterfall hard to view. It is best to try to explore the cascade during the spring when the snow is melting and fueling the stream.

Accessing the waterfall is relatively simple. The waterfall is located in the Ragged Mountain Memorial Preserve which features a well-marked trail system. Visitors can park on the shoulder of West Lane and then hike 0.70 miles one-way to the falls. The waterfall trail is family-friendly and a great way to get some hiking in. Dogs are also allowed on the trail and through the entirety of the Ragged Mountain Memorial Preserve. The preserve offers a lot of great hiking, so be sure to enjoy some of the other trails while you are there!
