Description
Thunder Hole is the best place in Acadia National Park to experience the power of the ocean waves against the rocky Maine shoreline. The hole is carved naturally out of the coastal rocks as the waves have been battering this inlet for centuries. The sounds and views are something every visitor of Acadia National Park must experience. Sometimes the waves crashing in the inlet rise some 50 feet! There are plenty of safety rails in place to allow Thunder Hole visitors to explore safely.Â
Thunder Hole is located right along Park Loop Road and it has its own dedicated parking area. It is located just a few hundred feet before the legendary Monument Cove.
