Welton Falls

Description

Welton Falls is a spectacular waterfall located in Alexandria, New Hampshire. The waterfall has a total height of 30 feet and can be found along the Fowler River. Fowler River typically flows well year-round. That said it flows strongest during the spring when the snow melts. Considering the water flow is often most significant in the spring, the months of March, April, and May are recommended for visitors hoping to see the falls roaring. Ultimately, Welton Falls is an amazing location to visit any day of the year.

The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of a stunning plunge and several cascades. The plunge is the main highlight of Welton Falls. This plunge is a whopping 15 feet and it splashes right into a little pool. The cascades can be found below the falls and they make for a great photo too!

Accessing the waterfall is relatively easy. The waterfall is located in the Welton Falls State Forest which features a well-marked and well-maintained trail system. Visitors can park at the trailhead along Welton Falls Road and then hike the Lower Manning Trail for a quarter-mile to the falls. The waterfall trail is family-friendly and a great route to get some hiking in. Dogs are also allowed on the route and through the entirety of Welton Falls State Forest. Please note that Welton Falls Road is not a paved road. The road is often not accessible during the winter. Winter visitors of the falls must park down the road and walk to the Lower Manning Trailhead.
