About This Location

Zealand Falls is a spectacular waterfall located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. The main drop of the waterfall is about 25 feet and can be found along Whitewall Brook. Whitewall Brook is a very seasonal water source. Sadly, there are only a few days of the year when the brook is powerful enough to make the falls beautiful. It is best to visit during the spring season to see the brook roaring because of the spring snow thaw. Visitors seeking a great view of Zealand Falls should visit from April to June.

The waterfall itself drops in a unique formation consisting of large plunges. Below the falls, there are a few cascades and slides. There is even a good-sized pool. This pool may be tempting to swim in on hot days. But it is not deep enough to swim comfortably in.

Accessing the waterfall does require a good hike. The waterfall is located in the White Mountain National Forest which features a well-marked and well-maintained trail system. Visitors can at the end of Zealand Road at the trailhead to the waterfall and then hike 2.7 miles to the falls. Ultimately, the journey out and back is 5.4 miles and features 603 feet of elevation gain. It is rated as moderate.
