Ramsdell Road Bridge

Description

The Ramsdell Road Bridge is a beautiful bridge located just a short distance from Main Street in Henniker, New Hampshire. The bridge was constructed in 1937 and features a beautiful warren through truss design. It carries Ramsdell Road over the Contoocook River. The bridge has a roadway that is only 18 feet wide, which is rather narrow considering 22 feet was the standard at the time it was constructed. This means that one car can cross the bridge at a time. Additionally, there is a pedestrian walkway attached to the bridge which allows for foot traffic and also makes for an excellent photo spot of the river.

In 2008, the Ramsdell Road Bridge was restored and repaired to bring it up to modern-day safety standards. Among the repairs, all the bottom chords and floor beams were replaced. Today, the bridge is in excellent condition and is well worth seeing when in the Henniker, New Hampshire area.
