About This Location

Located along the scenic Annisquam River in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Wingaersheek Beach stands as a testament to the natural beauty that graces the North Shore of the state. This beach, approximately 0.6 miles long, is a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a serene coastal escape.

Wingaersheek Beach is open to the public, making it accessible for all to enjoy. During the summer season, Gloucester residents can park with a residents pass, while nonresidents can purchase a day pass for parking. However, its popularity, along with nearby Good Harbor Beach, can lead to traffic congestion on nice summer days. To secure a parking spot, it's advisable to arrive early and make the most of your beach day. There is also an option to purchase parking up to 10 days in advance and you can learn more about that on the Gloucester Town Website.

The beach's amenities during the summer months enhance the visitor experience. A snack shack provides delicious treats, and restrooms and changing rooms are available for convenience. Lifeguards are on duty, ensuring a safe environment for swimmers. On occasion, food trucks and ice cream vendors make appearances, offering the perfect indulgence for a sun-soaked day at the beach.

Wingaersheek Beach is a summertime haven for beachgoers seeking relaxation, swimming, and sunbathing. Its tranquil shores provide an ideal backdrop for watching boats gracefully glide along the Annisquam River, adding to the beach's picturesque allure. Beach walks are also very popular and many love taking in views of the Annisquam Lighthouse.

As the summer season gives way to the off-season, the main Wingaersheek parking lot closes. However, a secondary parking lot remains open and free for all to use. During this quieter period, the beach becomes a favorite spot for leisurely walks and dog-friendly outings. The serene atmosphere and breathtaking scenery make Wingaersheek one of the premier beaches to visit on the North Shore of Massachusetts, offering year-round coastal beauty and respite.
