Cascade Falls

Description

Cascade Falls is a wonderful waterfall located in Weathersfield, Vermont. The waterfall has a total height of 85 feet and it can be found along Ascutney Brook. Ascutney Brook is a seasonal water source that truly only flows well for a few days each year. The brook flows best during the spring when the snow is melting. For this reason, the best months to visit the falls are April, May, and June.

The waterfall itself drops in a unique horsetail formation. When the falls are roaring, they are truly spectacular. Sadly, oftentimes the waterfall just features a small flow.

Accessing the waterfall is relatively easy. The waterfall is located in Mount Ascutney State Park which features a well-marked and well-maintained trail system. Visitors can park at the end of High Meadow Road and then hike the Weathersfield Trail for about 1 mile to the falls. At the halfway point, hikers pass Little Cascade Falls which is well worth checking out. Ultimately, the route out and back is 2 miles and features 682 feet of elevation gain. Dogs are welcome on the trail.
