About This Location

Pikes Falls is a stunning waterfall and swimming hole located in Jamaica, Vermont. The falls are made up of three separate drops that tumble a combined 30 feet via slides and cascades. The upper fall is a cascading fall that is 10 feet tall and separates into three independent sections as it cascades horizontally into a dip in the bedrock. There is then a 5-foot cascade before the stunning lower falls. The lower falls descend 15 feet into a wide pool which has become a popular swimming hole among locals and visitors alike. This pool is deep and clear enough for swimming on warm summer days. Additionally, there is a nice rocky beach area which makes getting in and out easy. Some visitors have been known to slide down the waterfall into the pool, but this can be dangerous.

Pikes Falls can be found along North Branch Brook. North Branch Brook features a pretty solid watershed year-round and this means Pikes Falls is a great place to visit any day of the year. That said, the water flow of the brook peaks during the spring when the snow is melting and running into the brook. For photographers and others hoping to see the falls in peak conditions, the months of April, May, and June are recommended.

Accessing the waterfall is relatively easy. The waterfall is located in the Pikes Falls Natural Area which features a short and well-maintained trail leading down to the falls. Visitors can park along Pikes Falls Road and then hike just a few hundred feet down to the brook to see the waterfall and swimming hole. Ultimately, exploring this waterfall is a wonderful family-friendly, and dog-friendly activity!
