Westmoor Park

Description

Westmoor Park in West Hartford, Connecticut, is a hidden gem. The main reason for the creation of the 162-acre park and farm is environmental education. The Leisure Services Department of West Hartford is in charge of maintaining the park and putting on events. Three miles of nature pathways wind their way through woods and meadows. Beautiful wildflower beds and even glacial deposits can be seen along the walks. The nature trail is well-marked and easy to walk. There is even a section that is wheelchair accessible.

There is also a demonstration farm on the property. Geese, chickens, bunnies, horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, and pigs reside in the barn. Snakes and turtles are on display in a small museum next to the barn. The large pasture provides a great opportunity to observe animals graze.

This is a really intriguing destination for adventures because of the free entrance and regular special activities. Hartford Reservoir Number 1 is another great location in West Hartford to explore.
